Being an avid fan and student of traditional Japanes Karate, I decided to create this website as a way to share my enthusiasm for the art.

I am hoping to post product reviews and videos of tournaments as time allows. If you would like to have your club or dojo or link listed on this site, feel free to send me an email via the contact page.  

About Japanese Karate

Japanese Karate includes martial arts that trace their roots back to ancient fighting arts in the regions of Okinawa, Japan and various regions of mainland China. The lineage goes back hundreds of years and in general is quite fragmented. As individual karate practioners would learn new techniques and pass along their teaching there was a gradual formation of a variety of styles and methods.

This continous evolving of styles is still continuing today! New styles are created or new techniques are integrated into existing styles. Some practioners long for a 'pure' discipline that faithfully and strictly follows the methods of past founders. Others are eager to incorporate new methods into their training.

Whether new or old, traditional or modern; virtually all styles have some common themes. Including, punching and kicking techniques; a focus on self discipline and self mastery; a study of forms or katas and an emphasis on life improvement via dignity and respect.
